Four Things That Don’t Go Together Well

Posted in: News
By: Paul Wood

We have been somewhat invisible for a few weeks, due to some circumstances that I did not anticipate. It was attributed to four things that separately most people would consider to be advantageous, but happening all at the same time can create significant problems.

First of all I decided to take a well needed vacation. I thought I had everything planned out and all set to run smoothly in my absence. But Murphy had other plans for me. I had setup for the weekly product posts to be made on schedule, but due to a security mod change with my hosting company it resulted in things not being posted as planned. One of the tasks that I had assigned before releasing a post for publication was the verification of the download links. When the attempt was made to verify the links, the only thing returned were access errors. That stopped the posts from being made, but also sent my relief into a panic trying to resolve the issue. Unfortunately it just compounded things, but I applaud the effort. I would rather have someone take the initiative to try to resolve something than to do nothing at all.

Making a long story short; never combine vacations, outsourcing, hosting security changes, and WordPress upgrades all at once. I learned a very valuable lesson out of all of this…backup my WordPress databases more often and keep up to date on proposed and scheduled changes on my hosting account.

Over the next three days, I will be posting the packages that I had planned to release and a little more. I actually went in and added more products to make up for missing my scheduled post times. Look for the first package within the next couple of hours.
